The place glows with voice.

“Like an ocean without waves, you’re the movement that I crave.”

I let the music eek its way into my chest, light making its way into this broken vessel that is me. I feel myself being stitched back together a little – a note, a chord, a word at a time.

Into my ears pour the harmonies of “Timshel,” laid over with the words of a friend who gives me the blessing of a song that is now mine.

“It will steal your innocence, but it will not steal your substance.”

I feel the leather cord tugging closed a tiny cut somewhere behind my lungs.

The driveway is long and dark. The radio is silent. I hum.

“Give ear to my words, O Lord.”

A voiceless song to One who needs no words.
