Fired Up! A Guest Post from the LifeChanging Tammy Helfrich

Sometimes we meet people and find that we’ve needed them all along. Tammy Helfrich is one of those people to me. Whether it’s cards in the mail or just texts to ask how I am, she is one of the most encouraging people I know. So when she wrote a book about people who are changing their lives and the lives of those around them, I knew it was going to be amazing. I think you’ll see her awesomeness here, and I hope you’ll subscribe to her blog or buy her book.  It’s amazingly encouraging, just like her.

I watch the updates from God’s Whisper Farm. I see the work that Andi is doing. I celebrate when she accomplishes one of her goals. And, I smile when she relaxes and truly enjoys the place of rest she is building.

It’s exciting to me.

Watching someone follow a dream.
Watching them take action steps forward.
Being able to support them and encourage them.

It gets me fired up!

I never realized this until I started spending more time with dreamers and talking to them, and hearing their stories. It helped me want to define my own dream. It helped me want to find more dreamers and people living extraordinary lives.

It also helped reinforce the idea of community. I have an awesome church community that I am a part of. I have many friends and leaders who are challenging me to take steps forward and live an uncommon life. But I have also developed incredible relationships with other dreamers around the country. Many of these friendships were formed online.

Yes, I know what you are thinking. “Those friendships aren’t real.”

I admit it. I thought the same thing for a long time, too. But, then I met some of these people I had interacted with online in person. I ate with them, laughed with them, talked about dreams with them, and cried with some of them. We forged bonds.

Have I also encountered people who were not at all like they seemed online? Absolutely. But, honestly, I have found this to be the exception rather than the rule.

I’ve met incredible people like Andi. We hadn’t had a large number of interactions before we met in person. I knew who she was, and honestly, I was a little intimidated by her! She has an impeccable writing portfolio and experience. I was a newbie blogger and writer. But, when I met her, what I instantly saw was her heart. She is one hundred percent real, and an absolute joy to be around.

It’s people like Andi who make me want to keep telling stories of dreamers who are making a difference in the world. I want to celebrate them. I want others to know about what they are doing. I want to help inspire others to take action after hearing their stories.

I started a series on my blog specifically for this purpose. I call these people LifeChangers. I featured Andi’s story here.

I really liked this idea, so I expanded it into an ebook. Becoming a LifeChanger: Move Away from Ordinary is available free to subscribers on my blog. I would love to give you a free copy! It’s also available for purchase on Amazon.

I want to spread stories of inspiring people. I want to hear your story, or the story of someone you know. You can connect with me on my blog, or through Twitter.
