I know not all of you are in the States, and I know that there are complex histories and power dynamics and painful legacies associated with this holiday for man of us who are.

But still, on this day before we formally celebrate here in the U.S., I am grateful for all of you – for the fact that you take the time to read what I write, for your presence in my daily time, for the way you support, encourage, and even challenge me.
